A Baker in Paris

Hi guys!

Recently I haven’t been posting much, and it’s because I’ve been busy organising a trip, which I’m about to tell you all about!

So this weeks post is going to be a little different, first of all, it’s not a recipe and second of all I’m not sat in my kitchen writing. I’m somewhere a little different to my kitchen, maybe more than a little… As I write this I’m sat in a bar, sipping a mojito in the middle of Paris. But don’t worry, this post is still slightly baking related I promise you!

I wanted to do something a little out of my comfort zone and take some pastry classes. And where else to take them than in Paris? I’ll be learning how to make classic French desserts such as Crepe Suzette and creme brûlée, French pastries like croissants and pain au chocolat, and lastly macarons! Which you can make savoury apparently?! Who knew?

So, I’m planning on stuffing myself with all sorts of pastries, cakes and bread, in the name of research, obviously… and perhaps after all this tasting I’ll have a few new recipes to test out myself when I get home.

I’ve been here for a day and a half now and I’m having a lovely time. After having a travel induced sleep I woke up and made my way down to the nearest patisserie for breakfast, which consisted of a cappuccino and the biggest pain au chocolate I have ever laid eyes on.

Let me tell you, despite it’s size, it did not last long.

I then ventured down the neighbourhood gazing into each patisserie as I passed.

I found myself in a street market called “Marchet Maubert” and chatted to a few of the men and woman in the stalls, bought myself some cherries and wandered off to a park to read.

I’ll be starting the pastry classes soon and will tell you all about it when I do.

But until then, au-revoir!
